Vintage 1989 Takamine C136S Concert Classical Nylon String Guitar W/Case MIJ for sale in Northampton, MA
Up for sale today is a beautiful 1989 Takamine C136C concert classical nylon string guitar. This guitar sounds absolutely beautiful. It has a very full sound with a very playable neck. I don't necessarily want to sell it, but it is a bit too nice for my playing ability and is not being played as much as it should. The guitar has had no repairs, the neck joint is solid, all binding is solid and the tuners are original and function as they should. The guitar has some very light scratches on the back caused by playing and resting against a button or zipper of a garment, but nothing major at all. There are no chips, cracks, or anything of the sorts. Only scratches in the finish. According to the serial number, this guitar was made in 1989. Features beautiful rosewood back, sides and fingerboard and has a cedar top. The action might be a smidge on the medium or slightly high side of things. But this guitar has never been worked on so the saddle and bridge have all the room necessary for your luthier to adjust it to your specifications. I for one never found this action to be an issue at all. You can see the action compared to a nickel in one of the photos. The guitar was made in japan and ships in a hard shell case that I do not know if it was the original case or not, but it fits very nicely and securely. I recently restrung the guitar with a set of D'Addario EJ46 Pro Arte nylon core, silver-plated wound strings and they have settled nicely. Although, they do not quite do this guitar justice compared to the prior strings that it had. I wish I knew what they were because they just absolutely sang. These strings still sound very good, but I would recommend playing around with a few different string types to find that real sweet spot for this guitar. Guitar may need a light cleaning to make it look even better than it currently does. Nothing major, just a light fretboard cleaning and a light wipe of the finish to really make it shine. There is a small sticker residue on the back of the headstock.Overall the guitar is in truly wonderful shape especially for its age. Has the original Made in Japan sticker still on the headstock.The guitar will ship via UPS Ground.
